Abstract

492,036. Photo-electric cells. LUBSZYNSKI, H. G., and KLATZOW, L. March 10, 1937, No. 7060. [Class 39 (i)] A method of forming a transparent photoelectric electrode comprises depositing on a transparent carrier a layer of material so thin that it is substantially electrically nonconducting, oxidizing the layer and depositing over it a relatively thick conductive layer of electrically conductive material, and rendering the oxidized layer light-sensitive either before or after deposition of the thick layer. Preferably both layers are of silver and the oxidized layer is rendered light-sensitive by treatment with caesium vapour. Loss of light during passage through the usual relatively thick silver layer is avoided.
