Abstract
610,645. Cathode materials and processing. TOMES, G. A. R., and TIDMARSH, M. [Representative of TIDMARSH, A.], and ALLTOOLS, Ltd. April 12, 1946, No. 11304. [Class 39 (i)] A method of producing a photo-sensitive or other electron - emitting surface comprises vaporizing in succession antimony (or arsenic or bismuth) and caesium (or any alkali metal) on to the surface of a layer of finely divided carbon; the antimony may be deposited first, or the caesium. Such a cathode may be used in a photo-cell or as a cold cathode in a gasdischarge tube.
