Abstract

498,339. Thermionic valves. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 6, 1937, No. 24327. Convention date, Sept. 5, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] To compensate anode capacity effects in high-frequency valves an electrode is provided arranged symmetrically with the anode and having applied to it an alternating potential similar tc that applied to the anode, but in phase opposition. The Figure shows a valve with an anode 3 and compensating electrode 4 in a circuit as shown. An arrangement of a number of symmetrically placed anodes and compensating electrodes is also described. The compensating electrode is given a negative bias such that it does not become positive for any value of the alternating potential applied to it. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 288,663, [Class 39 (i)].
