Abstract
497,891. Two-part couplings combined with switches. RAFT, G. Jan. 18, 1938, No. 1700. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] A branched adapter is fitted with a rotary ratchet-operated switch by which either or both of the appliances connected to the branches may be switched on or off. The body 7 is divided longitudinally and forms a plug 8 to fit a bayonet supply socket and two sockets 9, 10 to receive lamps or couplings. One of the contacts 14 of the plug 8 is connected by a strip 15 to one contact of each of the sockets 9, 10. The other contact 14 of the plug 8 is attached to a fixed plate 18 having a circular portion forming a back plate for the rotary switch member 21 that turns on a spindle 20. The plate 18 carries pawls to prevent reverse movement of the switch. The switch member 21 contacts in certain positions with either or both of the spring contacts 16, 17 of the sockets 9, 10 and is moved to four positions by an oscillating plate 23 actuated by a pull cord 25 and a return spring and carrying a pawl to engage the switch member 21.
