[Class 58] Grain is fed into a moistening device a in which its moisture content is raised to about 22 per cent and then passes to a radiator heating compartment b where it remains for some time at a temperature of 50 to 60‹ C. The grain next is led into a vacuum drier c where it is treated at a temperature of 37 to 40‹ C. and at an absolute pressure of 4 to 6 cms. of mercury. Finally, the grain is treated in a cooling compartment d until it corresponds to the temperature of the outer atmosphere.
