493,569. Motor cores and casings. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. June 22, 1937, No. 17386. Convention date, Jan. 8. [Class 35] A motor rotor is enclosed in a gas-tight casing comprising a ring of magnetic laminae and plastic or nonconducting material bonded together the stator windings being outside and not enclosed by the gas-tight casing. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the rotor is enclosed in a stator bore lining consisting of a series of stacks of laminae 74, Fig. 5, held between non-magnetic wedges 76 to which they may be bonded by the application of heat or pressure. Non-metallic rings and metallic end covers complete the enclosure of the rotor. The stator end windings are not enclosed. In the form shown in Figs. 9 and 10 laminae 250 are assembled in a mould and are bonded together with plastic material. Windings 226 are placed in the slots which are then closed by a laminated ring 252 completing the stator core. The rotor enclosure is completed by end covers 232, 234 clamped together by a spindle 236 on which the rotor runs.
