919,234. Cores for dynamo-electric machines. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 23, 1959 [April 26, 1958], No. 13874/59. Class 35. [Also in Group XXII] A stator or rotor for electrical apparatus is made (see Group XXII) by holding at least two sintered-metal permanent magnets 3, 4, having different internal and external radii from one another, in a jig while they are connected together by ferromagnetic material of high permeability. A rotor in which the magnet segments 3, 4 are of slightly different sizes may be made, Fig. 3, by joining the segments with a sheet of ferromagnetic material (not shown) secured to the inner surfaces of the segments by outwardly-bent tags at the parts 12. If a stator, Fig. 4, with the segments 3, 4 of slightly different sizes, has one or more ridges 21 on the sheet or sheets 18 connecting the segments, reinforcing sheets 19 may be spot-welded at 20 to the sheets. The segments may be secured to the sheets 18 by tags or cement. In Fig. 6, tags 23 on additional sheets 22 and rubber strips 24 locate the stator-magnets 3, 4. Resilient ends 25 of strips 19 locate the stator assembly in its housing (not shown). Spaces 27 accommodate packing.
