Abstract

Diesel oils are improved in viscosity, fuel value, cetene number, and pour point by adding condensation products of high m.w. aliphatic hydrocarbons with oxygen-containing aromatic compounds; soft paraffin wax or oil fractions containing it may also be added. Up to 5 per cent of the condensation product is a suitable addition. In an example, a Diesel oil obtained by the destructive hydrogenation of brown coal tar is mixed with 1 per cent of a condensation product of chlorinated paraffin wax with diphenylene oxide.
