Abstract

262,363. Meyer, E., G. E. June 12, 1925. Motor spirit comprises mineral oil or liquid coal tar distillates having a boiling pint of about 160‹ C. or higher with small additions of ether and ammonia or like volatile basic material, and without the addition of wood spirit, naphthalene. or sulphur. Up to 10 per cent of hydrocarbon boiling below 100‹ C. may be added. In an example, 87 litres of a petroleum or coal-tar distillate boiling between 160-260‹ C., 9 litres of a petioleum fraction boiling below 100‹ C., and 4 litres of ether are mixed, and then 1 lb. of 0.880 ammonia is added to 10,000 lb. of the fuel.
