Abstract

278,341. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Nov. 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Motor spirit consists of a low aliphatic alcohol and the product consisting substantially of liquid hydrocarbons obtained by the destructive hydrogenation of coals, tars, or mineral oils, of their distillation or extraction products or residues, or of any carbonaceous material. Natural benzine may be added. For example, 60 per cent of the product obtained by the destructive hydrogenation of lignite, 30 per cent of gasolene, and 10 per cent of methanol are mixed. Specifications 247,932, [Class 1 (i), Chemical processes &c.]; and 257,256 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also states that the destructive hydrogenation product may be added to any usual motor fuel to lower its freezing point as well as to reduce knocking. In an example 80 per cent of benzol is mixed with 20 per cent of destructive hydrogenation, product boiling below 80‹ C., whereby the freezing point is lowered to 4‹ C. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
