Abstract

A top cylinder lubricating-oil which dissolves readily in petrol and does not separate therefrom on standing, is composed of a mixture of heavy lubricating oil and a vehicle consisting of a petroleum fraction with an end B.P. not higher than 280 DEG C., the proportions being such that the mixture has a flush point above 73 DEG F. and distillation range of 150 DEG C. upwards. For example, 1 lb. of oil, such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark "Aero Shell," is mixed into 5 lb. of white spirit with an end B.P. not exceeding 200 DEG C.; 6 fluid ounces of the mixture is dissolved in 1 gallon of petrol. According to the Provisional Specification the vehicle may be light petroleum spirit.
