Abstract
492,544. Ovens mounted above open fireplaces. URE, A. F. June 2, 1937, No. 15296. [Class 126] A hot-closet or stove G mounted above an open fireplace A is formed of sheet or cast metal secured to a rectangular frame L to which the doors R are hinged, and the frame L is provided with three flanges O, one at the top and one at each side, which fit into recesses D around an opening B above the fireplace, and also with a flange P at the bottom which is set back and which passes behind the bottom edge of the opening, the oven being thus removable from and replaceable in its operative position without any screws, bolts, or the like being undone. The flanges O rest against flanges E at the back of the recesses D, and the flange P rests on a ledge F. The oven has to be tilted before it can be moved bodily into or out of position, and the weight of the oven holds it in its place. The oven walls H are secured to the frame L by screws N screwing into lugs M at the back of the frame. Slots Q are provided in the flanges E for the passage of the lugs when the oven is removed or replaced. A canopy T may be provided below the oven.
