[Class 52 (i)] [See also Group XI] A gas or electric cooking-stove having an oven and a hot-plate or grill is enclosed in a cabinet comprising side and back walls 5, 6, a hinged lid 9, in which is removably or foldably mounted a plate-rack 14, and a door or doors 7 at the front to provide access to the oven door. The cabinet may be formed of metal, such as sheet steel, enamelled on the outer surface and having a lining of asbestos or the like, or this latter material may form an inter-lining between an inner lining of sheet steel and an outer layer of wood. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the cabinet is separate from the stove which rests on a removable tray 12, and the rear wall 6 is formed with openings 11 for the entry of air and escape of waste gases. A rail 16 and hooks 17 for the accommodation of cloths &c., are provided on the inner sides of the doors 7, while the plate-rack 14 is fitted, on its under side, with an easily cleaned splash-guard 15 having apertures through which hot gases may rise. The cabinet may be of polygonal or circular form in plan ; in the latter case sliding instead of hinged doors 7 may be provided. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the side walls 5 of the cabinet constitute also the sides of the oven 18, the back wall 20 of the latter being spaced from the back 6 of the cabinet to provide a flue through which the gases from the oven may pass to the upper part of the stove before discharge. The wall 6 may be formed with a lower gas exit opening 21 and an aperture 23 is provided for the passage of the gas &c., connections. The space below the oven 18 is utilized for the accommodation of cooking-utensils and the like.
