533,223. Electric stoves or cookers. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and DAVIS, P. W. Aug. 4, 1939, No. 22619. [Classes 39 (iii) and 126] In an electrically heated domestic stove or cooker the cooking fumes from the oven are discharged at the upper surface of the stove top plate. Fig. 1 shows a stove comprising an oven 12 mounted in a lagged casing 5, spaces 14 being left at the sides and beneath the base of the oven to accommodate the heating resistances 15. Air supplied through conduits 30 in the base passes along the side spaces and enters the oven through elongated openings 19 at the top corners of the oven. Air also enters the oven through a narrow passage 29 extending along the bottom of the hinged door 13. The hot air and fumes escape through an opening 21 at the back of the oven to a vertical conduit 24 having a discharge opening or grille 25 formed in the rear portion of the top plate 8 which is fitted with one or more hot plates 10. The conduit 24 opens at its lower end into the space between a sheet metal plate 26 and the back of the casing, an opening 27 at the lower part of the plate 26 allowing air to enter to cool the hot gases.
