Abstract

492,146. Wireless receiving systems; impedance networks. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. March 7, 1938, No. 7158. Convention date, March 9, 1937. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] In a motor-car receiver high-frequency interference from the ignition system is eliminated, and the harmful influence of the small capacity of the car aerial is compensated, by feeding the aerial pick-up voltage through a step-down transformer 2 and twin cable 10 to a coupling condenser 3 connected in series with the inductance 4 of a tuned circuit 5, and the voltage across the tuning condenser 6 is applied to the control grid of the valve 7. When automatic volume control is effected by applying a control voltage V2 through the resistance 11 to the grid of the valve 7, a condenser 12 prevents short-circuiting through the secondary of transformer 2, and the condenser 12 and resistance 11 form a smoothing circuit for the control voltage. If the cable has a high self-capacity the condenser 3 may be omitted.
