Abstract

762,745. Superheterodyne circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 6, 1954 [Dec. 9, 1953], No. 35254/54. Classes 40(5) and 40(6) A self-oscillating frequency-changer comprises a valve with a tuned Lecher line ¢L3, ¢L3, as oscillator circuit. One side of the line is connected to the grid and the other to cathode via inductance L8 and condenser C2 which serve for balancing the line at the two ends of the tuning range. Oscillations are maintained by a backcoupling loop L4 in the anode circuit, in series with a blocking condenser which tunes the primary of the first I.F. transformer L6. Signals are introduced into a further Lecher line L2 which is coupled to the neutral point on the oscillator line ¢L3, ¢L3 by means of the joint tuning bridge B, via a coupling loop L1. A series inductance L9 provides for tracking. Regenerative feedback is provided at signal frequency by inductance L5, in conjunction with the valve capacitors, and at intermediate frequencies by condensers C1, 5 in conjunction with resistor R2. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the inductances L8, 9 are dispensed with, the necessary differences in inductance of the lines being obtained by using curved lines of differing radii.
