Abstract

754,226. Superheterodyne circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1954 [Feb. 12, 1953], No. 3862/54. Class 40 (6). In a frequency-changer comprising a selfoscillating triode provided with negative feedback at intermediate frequency to reduce the damping on the I.F. circuits, the negative feedback path is connected to the grid end of the high-frequency input circuit. A number of embodiments, are described in the Specification. In one, Fig. 2, a signal input circuit 2 is coupled to the centre of a reaction coil 4, the reaction circuit being balanced by means of a condenser 5. The coil 4 is back-coupled to a tuned anode circuit 3 fed in parallel with the I.F. transformer 6. I.F. current feedback is produced by connecting a resistor 9 in series with the transformer primary and providing a back-coupling path to the common point of blocking condensers 10, 11 which are in the grid circuit. The condensers 10, 11 may alter. natively be connected between the circuit 2 and the tap on coil 4, Fig. 3 (not shown). In other embodiments the oscillator circuit is of the Hartley (Fig. 4, not shown) or grounded grid (Fig. 7, not shown) type, or comprises a valve with a capacitive impedance in the cathode circuit (Figs. 5, 6, not shown).
