Abstract

775,612. Radio receiving circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 25, 1955 [March 30, 1954], No. 8780/55. Class 40(6) In an ultra-short wave receiver a triode self-oscillating mixer 1 is followed by a grounded-grid LF. stage 2. The signal circuit 8 is connected .to an electrical centre-tap on the oscillator circuit 4, which is balanced by means of condenser 18. The mixer 1 is coupled to the grounded-grid I.F. stage 2 by means of a transformer 16, 19, the primary 16 of which is tuned by the feedback condenser 7 of the oscillator circuit. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the secondary 19 is also tuned, the earthing point of this circuit being at a tap on the coil so as to neutralize feedback in the grounded-grid stage 2. Feedback at intermediate frequency is provided by condenser 14 and resistor 17 and compensates not only for the output damping of the mixer 1 but also for the low input impedance of the grounded-grid I.F. amplifier 2.
