K. ; Central Avenue, Hartsdale, and WHEELER, H. A. ; 18, Melbourne Road, Great Neck, both in New York, U.S.A.) Sept. 9, 1932, No. 25147. Convention date, May 25. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v).] In a supersonic heterodyne receiver having a plurality of tuning circuits in cascade, image frequency interference is suppressed by an image frequency suppressing circuit which couples two circuits of the selecting system. The Figure shows a detector-oscillator 11 having a band-pass input with mixed coupling L4C5 operating on two wave bands controlled by switches S1-S3. The oscillator circuit C6L5 is coupled to the output through the circuit L7C8 on the higher wave-band and through the circuit L7L8C7 on the lower wave-band and is coupled to the circuit between the cathode of the valve 11 and earth. This circuit also includes resistance condenser combination R3 C11 and coil L13 which is coupled to the input so as to suppress the image frequency by opposing the energy of this frequency passing through the band-pass filter and operates on both wave-bands.
