[Class 139] In an electrically maintained balance and contact mechanism for clocks of the kind in which an oscillating magnetic bar or plate 15 is influenced by an electromagnet 8 supplied with impulses by means of a lever arm 18 rocked at intervals by a projection 25 fixed to the balance, the lever arm 18 is rigid and is pivoted at a fixed point 19, and a moving contact comprising a pin or projection 17 fixed to the lever arm makes momentary wiping contact with a resilient fixed contact 20. A leaf spring 24 engages a recess 24a in the lever arm tending to open the contacts. The pin 17 may be arranged to bridge a pair of fixed contacts. The clock is self-starting.
