490,484. Moving signs; oscillating motors. WADDINGTON, A. S., and INTERNATIONAL NOVELTY CO., Ltd. Aug. 20, 1937, No. 22906. [Class 3 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] In electrically - operated motors of the pendulum type for actuating signs, advertising devices, &c. a battery cell 10 is clipped by arms 8 to the pendulum 1, which is of wood, &c. The outer metal casing of the cell contacts with a clip 7 gripping a solenoid coil 9 at the bottom of the pendulum, and the central upper contact 14 of the cell touches a metal yoke 6 which carries coned journal screws 5 swinging on a fixed pivot pin 3. A contact higher up may be provided to accommodate a taller cell. The pin 3 is in electrical connection with one of the arms of a U -switch 19, 20 carried by a pivoted spindle 21, a metal contact 13, carried by the upper end of the pendulum and wired to the coil 9, completing the circuit through the coil at each swing of the pendulum. The stationary core 16 of the solenoid is shown as a straight rod, and is stated optionally to have a non-magnetic extension for support by the opposite side of the casing. Two pins 28 project forwardly from the pendulum to receive the device or part to be operated.
