Abstract

478,801. Tumbler switches. WATSON, A. July 9, 1937, No. 19064. [Class 38 (v)] A tumbler switch comprises a contact arm T rotatable in a horizontal plane about a vertical pivot pin C which passes up through a hole in the base and is held in position by a pin B passing through it and which carries the dolly A. A depending leg F of the dolly passes through a clearance hole in the contact arm T and has attached to it one end of a tension spring H, the other end of which is attached at J to the contact arm and serves to provide a snap-action when the dolly is moved across. A second depending leg F of the dolly engages the ends of a slot in the contact arm to provide initial positive actuation. An insulating disc Q serves to close the aperture in the base. The switch may be adapted for flush mounting. In a modification, the movement is supported on a flat bridge member spanning the base and provided with a, central bearing bush for supporting the pivot C.
