Abstract

345,045. Mechanical switches without quick-action. BUSBY & CO., Ltd. and TWINE, H.,D., 43, Price Street, Birmingham. Feb. 12, 1930, No. 4666. [Class 38 (v).] Bases.-In a push-pull switch the transverse contactbridge carried by the actuating rod moves between guide parts or walls carried by the base to prevent rotation of the actuating rod both in the on and off positions of the switch. A spindle 6 having an operating knob 7 is slidably mounted in a bushing 3 which has a nut 4 and washers 5 for attachment to the panel of a wireless receiving set. The spindle 6 carries a contact-bar 8 the bent-down ends 9 of which engage, in the on position, fixed contact-jaws 13 secured by terminals 11 to the base 1. The base has two vertically-extending walls 2 between which the contact-member 8 fits closely, thus preventing rotation of the spindle 6. Mounted on the spindle 6 at right-angles to the contact-bar 8 is a spring 15 the two arms of which engage frictionally with recesses 17 on the inside of the walls 2 and locate the switch member in both operative positions. The spring 15 and the contactbar 8 may be stamped out of one piece of metal. According to the Provisional Specification the switch may be held in the off and on positions by a spring member carried by the guide walls and engaging two notches in the actuating rod.
