Abstract
560,917. Electrically-tripped switches. URMENYI, L. Oct. 29, 1942, No. 15177. [Class 38 (v)] A high-sensitivity, electromagnetically-tripped . switch employs an axially-moving coil 3 in the air gap of a permanent magnet 1 and carried from a pair of phosphor-bronze strips 4. The coil carries a core 5 and a bent wire 7 having a part 71 disposed behind a pin 26 and part 7<2> in front of pin 27, the pins being so mounted on a lever 22 that, in whichever direction the coil 3 is moved, the lever 22 rotates anticlockwise about its pivot 23 and releases a pallet stone 28 from latching engagement with a lever 20. The latter in turn releases a holding latch lever 15 so that a spring 16 lifts contacts 8, 9 to open the circuit, overpowering spring 18 in the operation. Reclosure is effected by a knob 29, the latches being all reset in the reclosing process. For calibration purposes, an adjustable spring 25 holds lever 22 against adjustable. stop 24, but, instead, the parts 7<1>, 7<2> may be spaced from their co-operating pins, in which case the lever 22 may be free of spring or gravity control. The Provisional Specification states also that the wire 7 may make or break a circuit directly.
