Abstract

574,893. Centrifugal switches. JACK & HEINTZ, INC. Dec. 22, 1943, No. 21491. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1942. [Class 38 (v)] A centrifugal switch with snap action has an armature 40 on the end of a switch arm 22, engaging a permanent magnet 41 at the limit of its travel. The fixed contact 31 is carried by a spring strip 31a, while the moving contact 27 is carried by a spring strip 26 on the arm 22 the latter being biased downwards by means of the magnetic attraction, spring 36, and the supporting spring strip 23 of the arm. When the pin 16 actuated by the governor 15, moves upwards, it acts on arm 22 through a spring 25, until the bias is overcome and contacts 27, 31 separate. Conversely, a snap action reclosure occurs when 16 retracts.
