Abstract

489,890. Rudders. SPURR, E. June 30, 1937, No. 18223. [Class 114] A rudder 8 has an upper flange 9 which fits into a circular recess in a bearing 4 secured to the hull 1, the under surface of the flange being flush with the hull. A tube 13 is attached to the bearing 4 and extends above the waterline, being held at its upper end by a crossplate 16 and carrying an extension 19 which forms a supporting bearing for the tubular stock 11. The stock is secured to the rudder by taper-pins 12 and to the boss 21 of the tiller 23 by other taper-pins 22.
