496,322. Flying boats and aircraft floats. SHORT BROS. (ROCHESTER & BEDFORD), Ltd., and GOUGE, A. Oct. 22, 1937, No. 28930. [Class 113 (ii)] The step of a flying-boat hull or aircraft float is faired whilst the aircraft is flying by a hinged fairing, this fairing being raised whilst the aircraft is waterborne. The fairing b is hinged at its rearward end. It is formed in two or more parts so that it conforms to the V-shaped undersurface of the boat or float. These parts are raised by jacks d operated simultaneously.
