The bearing-bush is extended aft to form an enlarged collar encircling the end of the propeller boss. The stern tube a is coupled to the bush e of the bracket-boss c by the screwed member f, which is externally tapered to form a fairing to the boss c. The bush e has a collar h, which prevents fouling of the shaft by ropes or the like.
