Abstract

240,469. Hickman, W. A. Sept. 25, 1924, [Convention date]. Screw propellers; rudders.-A hydroplane with a semi-submerged propeller is constructed with its hull gradually narrowing aft whereby water flows along the sides to the propeller which is positioned beyond the stern and the shaft of which supports in part a rudder. The hull 5 has a V-shaped bottom and an aft portion of straight converging lines terminating at a narrow transom 9. The propeller 11 is hung aft of the stern and behind it is a rudder 13 supported at 15 on the propeller shaft and also by an out-rigger frame 17.
