Abstract

489,849. Valve generating circuits. FISH, N. L. YATES-, WILLANS, P. W., and MUIRHEAD & CO., Ltd. Jan. 4, 1937, No. 172. [Class 40 (v)] Reciprocally coupled valves coupled by non-resonant combinations of reactance and resistance elements are used to generate or selectively amplify oscillations. In Fig. 1, the plate of valve 1 is coupled to the grid of valve (i by coupling condenser 3, grid leak 4 and resistance 5 whilst condenser 11 connects the grid and cathode of valve 6. The plate of valve 6 is coupled to the grid of valve 1 by condenser 8, and resistance 10 connects the grid of valve 1 to the cathode of valve 6. By altering the values of condensers 8 and 11, the frequency of the oscillations can be varied. Reaction is controlled by adjustment of the tapping on resistance 2. An additional valve 13, Fig. 2, may be provided to prevent the grid current which tends to flow in valve 1 from loading the valve 6. In the circuit illustrated, automatic grid bias is provided by resistances 16 and condensers 17 whilst the anode of valve 1 is connected to earth through condenser 18 and resistance 19. A padding condenser 20 in parallel to condenser 8 is also provided. Oscillations of from 20-20,000 cycles can be obtained and sizes of components are given in the Specification. Embodiments using pentode valves are also described. Specification 395,596 is referred to.
