Abstract
418,033. Valve circuits for wireless reception. FULLER, L. G., Dunromyn, Bartons Hill, East Minster, Isle of Sheppey, Kent. July 17, 1933, No. 20177. [Class 40 (v).] A thermionic rectifier V has an output load impedance consisting of a thermionic valve VI, direct connections extending between the cathodes of each valve to an electrode of the other, and the two valves having unequal characteristics. A high frequency input circuit LC, Fig. 1, is connected across a diode V1 through a condenser C1, the cathode of valve V1 being connected to the grid of valve V whose cathode is connected to the anode of valve V1. When no signals are being received, the grid bias of valve V adjusts itself so that the grid current is equal to the space current through the diode V1, the grid acting as an anode. The characteristics of the two valves are made unequal by adjusting the temperature of the filament of valve V1 and this is stated to produce detection of a high frequency input. In a modification, the cathode of valve V, Fig. 2, is connected to the grid of valve V1 over the circuit L C, the condenser C1 of Fig. 1 being omitted. The valve V1 may be a diode or a screen grid valve, and both valves may be contained in a single envelope, Fig. 3 not shown.
