Abstract

489,266. Mould linings. BECKETT, J. Dec. 31, 1937, No. 36188. [Class 83 (i)] In order to modify the composition of a portion of the face of a casting of iron, steel, alloy steel, or other metal having a high melting point, the corresponding portion of the mould is lined with destructible material, such as open-meshed fabric or felt, carrying a selected metal, alloy or metallic composition. The lining may be made by saturating the material in boiled linseed oil, removing excess, spraying, sieving, or otherwise scattering the metal &c. in powder form, over it, rolling lightly and baking, in order that it may be cut to shape &c. The castings may be subjected to heat or other treatment.
