Abstract
367,246. Removing occluded gas from molten metal. HERAEUS-VACUUMSCHMELZE AKT.-GES. and ROHN, W., 8, Dammstrasse, both in Hanau-on-Main, Germany. May 4, 1931, No. 13137. Convention date, May 5, 1930. [Class 72.] Molten metal is poured through an easily closable opening e into an induction furnace d which is evacuated to extract gas from the metal. The furnace may have a horizontal trough a, primary coil b and transformer yoke c and the metal may be poured by tilting the furnace. If desired the trough may be formed by means of a hollow metal templet between which and the coil b dry, sandy, fireproof material is inserted. The first charge is poured into the templet and the material sinters.
