Abstract
348,655. Electric induction furnaces. TAMA, M. and HIRSCH, KUPFER-UND MESSINGWERKE AKT.-GES., Messing- werk, near Eberswalde, Germany. Feb. 15, 1930, No. 5169. [Class 39 (iii).] To prevent violent motion of the molten charge the upper edge of the induction coil is arranged below the surface of the metal. This arrangement may obtain also during the melting of a solid charge or as in Fig. 3 the coil 8 may be suspended in the position shown during melting and may be lowered when the charge has become fluid. In Fig. 2, the coil 2 extends below the crucible 1 and is provided with tappings 4, 5. The upper portion of the coil is cut out after melting has occurred. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 291,456 and 307,044, [both in Class 39 (iii), Heating by electricity].
