Abstract

487,682. Motor cycles ; mounting motors. GOLDSCHMIDT, M. Dec. 21, 1936, No. 35021. Convention date, Jan. 11. [Class 79 (iii)] A driving motor is mounted in a light cycle frame or the like by means of three fastenings each embodying rubber-and-metal elements, two of the fastenings being adjustable for chain tensioning purposes. The lower fastening 3, which supports the main load of the motor, comprises an elongated hood or shell formed of a pair of plates 6, Fig. 3, secured by flanges 7 to the motor and within which is located a correspondingly elongated plate 9 bolted between lugs on a sleeve 10 on the cycle frame tube 2, the intervening space being occupied by rubber 8 vulcanized &c. both to the shell 6 and plate 9. The lower edges of the shell project beyond the rubber to protect it from oil &c. The front part of the motor is connected to the frame by a fastening 4 embodying a bolt-eye 12, Fig. 5, formed on a sleeve 11 mounted on the frame tube 2 and lined with a bushing comprising a rubber ring 16 vulcanized to inner and outer metal sleeves 15, 14, the bushing being secured in the eye by a screw 13 and a bolt being passed through the sleeve 15 to engage a slotted link member on the motor. At the rear, the motor is secured against lateral displacement &c. by the attachment thereto of a pair of straps 20, Fig. 6, within the slotted ends 22 of which are adjustably secured by bolts 23, a pair of metal shoes 18 with rubber 17 vulcanized therein and shaped to embrace the cycle frame tube 2.
