Abstract

198,604. Essenhigh, L. J. Aug. 8, 1922. Belts for motor-car fans, motor cycles, dynamos &c. Non-metallic pads A of leather, rubber, or the like are secured to the sides of alternate links of a metallic chain. The links B and D of iron, steel, aluminium or the like are slotted to receive the securing rivets E, and they are tapered to suit the angle of the V-pulleys. Each link B has a projection bearing upon the opposite link D to prevent crushing of the belt. The pads A are secured by a screw F which screws into a bush of steel, vulcanized rubber, phosphor bronze, white metal or the like. The belt is air-cooled by the space G between the connecting links C. Specifications 13289/07, 9088/12, 9606/12, 111,824, 135,114, 176,160, and 177,038 are referred to.
