Abstract

199,449. Harter, G. March 20, 1922. Belt fastenings for V-shaped driving belts of the type in which plates inserted in slits cut in the belt ends at or near the neutral axis are flexibly connected together by means of hinge pins also lying on the neutral axis. The plates are connected by a single hinge pin passing through eyes or the like so disposed that the centre of the pin lies on the neutral axis. The plate a is pressed from sheet metal and bent on itself forming two eyes c adapted to receive a hinge pin f. The plate b is a hot stamping formed with an eye or a hook engaging the hinge pin between the eyes c. The plates a, b are secured in the slots out in the belt ends by bolts g preferably with knurled nuts h. Two bolt holes e, e<1> are formed in each plate to provide adjustment for belt stretch.
