Abstract

209,827. Firminger, H. S. W. Oct. 17, 1922. Belts. - A driving-belt consists of a bicycle chain 1. the links of which are connected together by hollow or axially grooved pivot pins 5, and friction pads 2, of leather or the like, secured by independent fastening members 4 passing into the grooves or recesses of the pivot pins 5 without playing any part in the assembly of the chain links. As shown, the fastening members 4 consist of pieces of bent wire passing through hollow pins 5 and to relieve them of driving stresses each friction member 2 has a detent. Fig. 3, to register with the links 3 of the chain. Rollers may be mounted upon the bushes 8 of the inner chain links to render the belt suitable for both belt and chain driving.
