Belt and band fastenings. - In belt and like couplings of the kind in which members connected to the belt ends are formed with eyes or lugs adapted to be aligned for the formation of a hinged joint, each of the belt-end members comprises two parts adapted to engage opposite surfaces of the belt and connected to each other through a slot in the belt. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the belt ends are connected by a metal, catgut, or other pin 8 passing through aligned eyes or lugs formed upon members attached to the belt ends, each belt-end member comprising a pair of sheet metal plates 2, 3, hinged at 4, one plate 3 being passed through a, slot 5 in the belt, in which the hinge 5 lies when the plates 2, 3 are closed together, bringing eyes or lugs 2<a>, 3<a> thereon into alignment. Prongs or teeth 7 may be pressed up out of the metal plates to dig into the belt.
