Abstract

446,456. Mounting motors. HERRING, G. A., 63, Warren Drive, Tolworth, Surrey. May 28, 1935, No. 12322. [Class 79 (iii)] In motor vehicles of the type wherein the engine unit is mounted on a sub-frame slidable into and out of the end of the vehicle, the sub-frame comprises a curved channel crossmember a, constituting or carrying the bumperbar, with rearwardly extending channel members b, c facing outwards and slidably embracing inwardly facing channel frame members h<1>, h<2>, the arrangement providing clearance for engine attachment elements as shown in Fig. 4 and the frame being secured in position solely by bolts through the flanges of the channel member a. The members b, c may be secured to the member a by angle brackets or welding or they may form the arms of a U, the middle portion of which is secured in the channel a. Pivoted arms with roller feet may support the frame when withdrawn.
