Abstract
486,061. Cable joints. OKONITECALLENDER CABLE CO., Inc. May 11, 1937, No. 13416. Convention date, May 14, 1936. [Class 38 (i)] A sheathed cable 6 housed in a loosely fitting conduit 1 within which the sheath 7 is subsequently expanded by oil pressure as described in Specification 486,059, is attached to a joint casing 3 by providing the latter with a tubular extension 4 that enters between the sheath and the conduit so as to be gripped when the sheath is expanded. The extension 4 may be separate from the joint casing and secured thereto by a coupling 5, and a similar coupling may be employed at the centre of the joint casing so that it may be opened centrally to give access to the cable ends.
