Abstract
544,654. Pull-through rods and couplings therefor. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and CULLING, C. J. Oct. 18, 1940, No. 15453. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii)] A coupling for connecting pull-through rods which are pushed into opposite ends of a conduit or pipe, especially for threading electric cables, comprises a rounded undercut head 3 secured at 5 to the end of one of the rods 7, and adapted to engage fixed projections 20, 21 inside a socket 12 attached at 13 to the other rod 15. Holes 19 are provided for the escape of silt. When the coupling is engaged, the rods can be drawn through the conduit, followed by the cable. Fig. 3 shows a centralizing device which may be inserted between the rod 7 and the head 3, for holding the latter centrally in the conduit to facilitate its engagement with the socket 12. The device comprises a central rod around which are spaced four bowed rods 23.
