Abstract

485,979. Aerials. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. Oct. 11, 1937, No. 27580. Convention date, Oct. 9, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] A frame aerial consists of one or more completely - closed coils F, Fig. 2, coupled to a receiver or transmitter by one or more coils C1, C2 of ring-like or toroidal form, which may be connected in series or parallel. For tight coupling the coils are fitted with a ferro-magnetic core K, Fig. 3, The coils are electrostatically screened, and the frame is symmetrically earthed by a lead E, which also earths the screen. The arrangement reduces "vertical" effect and gives a clear-cut directional response. By reversing the polarity of the connections of one coupling-coil, the normal frame effect can be converted to an " open aerial " effect.
