[Class 40 (v)] In a parallel-frame direction-finder of the kind described in the parent Specification, the input from the two main frames a, b is switched alternately at d, e to the deflecting plates m of the cathode-ray indicator o, in order to avoid the difficulty of amplifying the voltages at f and g without affecting their phase-relation. The pick-up from the centre frame-aerial c is applied constantly to the deflecting plates k of the indicator. Each aerial produces its own trace as shown at p, q, Fig. 2, and the critical bearing is shown when these coalesce into a single line as shown in Fig. 4. The switches d, e are coupled together so that when one is open the other is closed, and vice versa.
