420,687. Thermionic modulating- circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. June 6, 1933, No. 16272. Convention date, June 4, 1932. [Class 40 (v)] A valve of the kind described in Specification 418,132 is used as a variable-resistance element in a system of frequency-modulation. The frequency of the oscillator valve V1 is determined by a tuned circuit comprising a coil L and two condensers C1, C2 in parallel. The condenser C2 is in series with a valve V2 having an electron density - regulating grid G1 and a velocity-regulating grid G2, carrying fixed potentials. Modulating signals from the transformer T are applied to the control grid G, to vary the internal impedance of the valve V2, and therefore the frequency of the tuned circuit L, C1, C2.
