485,909. Sound - insulating plates. ISAKSEN, N. J., and MOLDESTAD, B. Nov. 8, 1937, No. 30579. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] A floor, wall, ceiling, &c. 5 is sound insulated by means of a porous fibre plate 1 provided with square, rectangular, triangular circular or other shaped bosses 2 arranged perpendicularly thereto and contacting with the surface to be insulated, the bosses being of such area and mutual spacing that the maximum ratio between their area and the area of the whole plate is limited to about 0'8 and the minimum ratio to that permitted by the bearing strength of the bosses. The latter may be produced by pressing a fibre plate or by securing loose bosses thereto. A finishing layer of cement 6 may be applied.
