Abstract
499,240. Composite tiles. LUDLUM STEEL CO. Feb. 19, 1938, No. 5257. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1937. [Class 140] [Also in Groups X and XXII] A composite facing-tile 1 comprises a thin corrosion-resisting metal facing 3, e.g. chrome steel with flanged edges 2, and a flexible backing 4 of felted material preferably impregnated with asphalt, resin or size. A recess and, if desired, a number of spaced indentations are provided in the back of the tile ; the facing may be protected by a translucent film. The tiles are preferably made by stamping from a composite sheet of material. A number of tiles may be secured in spaced relation to a sheet of paper which is coloured between the tiles to simulate joints; alternatively, a number of tiles may be secured to a wall and spaced apart by strips of coloured cellulose acetate.
