Abstract

1,054,412. Making metal panels. TATE ENGINEERING Inc. Jan. 7, 1964 [July 16, 1963], No. 677/64. Heading B3A. [Also in Divisions B7 and E1] A composite panel comprises a sheet 12 having struts 14 stamped from it, the ends of the struts being welded to a flat sheet 10, the holes 22 formed in the sheet by the stamping and bending out of the struts 14 forming a chessboard pattern of sets of strips 18 crossing one another. The sheet 12 may be stamped with rows of alternate I and H slots 16, Fig. 4, providing two struts 14 per hole 22. Z-, X- and swastikashaped slots provide two or four triangular or four rectangular struts respectively. The edges of the sheets 10, 12 are flanged, the flanges fitting one inside the other and being welded together, the edge of the outer flange having a rubber or metal edging strip enclosing a covering of linoleum, plastics, wood, marble terrazzo or cement.
