1,078,736. Laminates. SOC. ANON. FRANCAISE DE FERODO. Oct. 8, 1964 [Oet. 16, 1963; June 13, 1964], No. 41103/64. Heading B5N. A laminate for use in the manufacture of insulating material comprises a flat sheet of asbestos material and a sheet of aluminium secured to one surface thereof, the aluminium sheet being provided with ornamental patterns adapted to camouflage the unsightly striped effects which may be caused on the flat sheet by a corrugated backing layer attached thereto. The term " asbestos material " is defined as comprising materials which consist wholly or partly of asbestos fibres, and which are of a yieldable, unprintable nature in sheet and layer form. The ornamental patterns are preferably made by embossing or stamping the aluminium sheet. Specified insulating materials comprise (a) a corrugated layer of material secured by one face to the asbestos side of the laminate and a further flat sheet of asbestos secured to the other surface of the corrugated layer and (b) a laminate in which the ornamental patterns are a grid of perforations traversing the full thickness of the laminate and a corrugated backing layer secured to the asbestos side thereof. Various laminates are described.
