Class 87(i) A floor or wall tile comprises a square facing layer 1 and a similar but larger backing layer 2 having its edges recessed to provide projecting lugs 3 and wider recesses 4 therebetween to allow of play between adjacent tiles when they are being laid. The lugs and recesses may be squarecornered, bevel-cornered or of sinusoidal form. The backing layer may be formed with an aperture or apertures 6 or with a recess or recesses on the face abutting the facing layer.
